Marking Soldiers Graves in Eastern Delaware County, Ohio
Sunbury Halter and Saddle 4-H Club Members help American Legion, Big Walnut Area Historical Society mark the graves of Civil War Soldiers Buried in Trenton Cemetery on Veteran's Day, November 11, 2011,  Members of the Rosecrans' Command Headquarters helped honor former comrades. Silently, Rachel Edwards as the widow in full mourning paid her respects as each grave.

"As far as I know, we have completed marking all the graves of soldiers of the American Revolution, the War of 1812, the Mexican War and now the Civil War,"  noted Suzanne Allen, coordinator of the project which began in 2008 with marking the graves of the veterans of the American Revolution. Research is primarily done by Suzanne Allen with assistance from Polly Horn.  Gene Fuller of the American Legion and Delaware County Veterans Service Commission provide the flag holders and flags.

"It is an honor for the Rosecrans Command Headquarters to provide the spirit of these soldiers who gave so much for our country.  Our group is providing living history so today's youth will remember as they become tomorrow's citizens," commented Richard Helwig executive officer of the Rosecrans' Command Headquarter.

"It is a privilege to be able to help honor all the soldiers who fought for our freedom.  While our community works towards raising a statue to Major General William Starke Rosecrans, we know all of the soldiers held important positions to keep our country united and free," stated Tom Paul who portrays Major General Rosecrans.

Also present from the Rosecrans Command Headquarters were Chuck Grapes as Colonel Granville Frambes who built Sunbury's Town Hall after the Civil War and Valerie Hamill a member of the ladies aid.
