Big Walnut Area Historical Society Shares Sunbury Memorabilia from Myers Inn Museum

On Display from January to February 2016

To kick off Sunbury’s Bicentennial, Big Walnut Area Historical Society put a display of Sunbury memorabilia in the Community Library display case at 44 Burrer Drive.  In order to be ready for the library renovation beginning soon, the display will be removed February 15.

BWAHS President Damon Bower and Secretary Carol Norris chose items for the case from the Myers Inn Museum collection either donated to the historical society or on loan from other collectors.  Some are very old such as the papier maché head doll from 1820, to the biology slate of the late 1887, to 1915 Sunbury High School girls’ basketball team, to Dr. Carpenter’s forceps from 1940s, and Gammit was a stock broker card game made and printed in Sunbury.  A menu from Sunbury Grill in the 1940's, photos of major parts of our history and many other items are from previous celebrations of Sunbury history are on display.

Be sure to visit Community Library soon to catch this display.  Visit the Myers Inn Museum at 45 South Columbus Street for a closer look at Sunbury’s history.  The Museum is open 12-3 Thursday, Friday and Sunday and 10-3 on Saturdays.  Admission is by donation. While you are there, be sure to buy your Sunbury Bicentennial lapel pin for $2.50.
