The Sunbury News, October 7, 1948. . . .

Bill Whitney, who served on the Delaware County Fair Board, ask Joe Nevelle, father of the Jug, to obtain a shoe from the winner of the Little Brown Jug. The shoe was melted down to form the Horseshoe and small pendants for the players.  Bill Whitney did not fly but his brother and and Max Livingston flew to Boston with their wives for the presentation at a Boston Chamber of Commerce meeting.
